Course Description
The digital course "Biochemistry of Medicinal Mushrooms" offers an in-depth exploration of the human body's biological mechanisms and the way active compounds in mushrooms integrate into these pathways. The course provides a scientific and applied understanding at the cellular and biochemical levels, aiming to enable precise clinical adaptation of medicinal mushrooms for the treatment of various pathologies. Delivered through targeted video lessons, the curriculum covers core clinical topics, including the immune system, inflammatory pathways, oxidative stress, oncology (the 14 hallmarks of cancer), metabolic syndrome, neurodegenerative diseases, and the endocrine system.
Syllabus
-
Lesson 1: Introduction and Beta-Glucans. A brief overview of medicinal mushrooms and an in-depth look at beta-glucans.
-
Lesson 2: The Immune System and Infections. Innate and adaptive immunity, and dealing with viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites (includes a bonus video on allergies).
-
Lesson 3: Inflammatory Pathways. Understanding inflammation in the body and how medicinal mushrooms integrate into these mechanisms.
-
Lesson 4 (Bonus): Oxidative Stress. Defining oxidative stress and exploring the role of medicinal mushrooms as antioxidants.
-
Lesson 5: Oncology (Cancer). Studying the 14 hallmarks of cancer and how medicinal mushrooms affect cancer development pathways.
