Course Description
A comprehensive, hands-on course in natural formulation, designed for those who want to learn how to develop and create natural personal-care products professionally, from the initial formulation stages through to the finished product. The course covers water- and oil-based formulations, raw materials, preservatives, essential oils, emulsifiers and cream formulation techniques, as well as soap making and the use of advanced functional ingredients. Combining theoretical knowledge with practical work in small groups of up to five participants, the course provides each student with direct, hands-on experience throughout the formulation process. The course is taught by Eshed Haklai, a chemist and product formulator with professional experience in product development, laboratory management and regulatory affairs within the cosmetics industry. The course concludes with an individual final project, in which each participant develops and formulates their own product.

Session 2
Session 3
Basic terms in chemistry: atom, molecule, ion, pH, solution. Use of preservatives. Separation methods: extraction.
Product for preparation: Hyaluronic acid serum/
Terms: polymer, film agent, gelling agent, difference between cream and gel. Skin function. Emphasison recipe building.
Product for preparation: Soothing gel.
Separation methods: distillation.
Demonstration: Prepatartion of essential oil and hydrosol. essential oils as active ingredients.
Product preparation: Perfume or treatment massage oil (choice)
For aromatherapy graduates: The lesson will focus on the chemistry of essential oils.

Fatty Phase lesson. Terms: comedogenic, triglycerides and fatty acids. The effect of oil selection on blend texture and skin type compatibility.
Product preparation: Therapeutic ointment
Soap: In this session we will get to know a soap calculator, how to use it, how to desing soap, and practice operating a soap calculator.
Soap: Preparation of solid soap: recipe according to the student's design.
Cream, Terms: yypes of emulsifiers, W/O, O/W, stability. Which cjanges can be made in recipe and which changes are forbidden.
Demostration: W/O cream
Product preparation: Cream with an inonic emulsifier
Cream: product preparation af a O/W cream with a non-ionic emulsifier.
A word about regulation
Advanced Materials. Introduction to different families of active ingredients: acids, vitamins, peptides, proteins.
Prodduct preparation: Targeted cream.
Session 10
Exam and Reciving Certificates:
Practical exam: Preparation of pre-planned and pro-designed product for review. Supervised session with emphasis on work protocol, safety instructions, and product testing.
